Getting to the resort
One of the best ways to get to Travaasa Hana is by car via the Road to Hana.
The 68-mile drive takes 2 to 4 hours and features the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see in your life. Gorgeous waterfalls, streams, and rainforests will take your breath away as you travel down the twisting and turning highway.
Much of the road is one-lane with the Pacific Ocean on one side and cliffs on the other. However, there are places where you can stop for a quick breather and take in the stunning landscape.
As an alternative, the hotel offers an exclusive flight from Kahului to Hana Airport on Mokulele Airlines. And the hotel has a free shuttle to take you directly to the resort.
The roundtrip airfare is free if you book the all-inclusive package for three or more consecutive nights.
However, other flights from Kahului to Hana not associated with the resort are available.
Accommodations at Travaasa Hana
There are 139 spacious units on the property. Each room is beautifully appointed with wood floors and tranquil decor. And each unit includes a furnished patio or terrace.
Each unit is non-smoking and includes standards like mini-fridges, coffee makers, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are luxurious featuring bathtubs and separate showers, hairdryers, and bathrobes.
While each unit varies in size and features, there is no air conditioning in any room. Interior ceiling fans and screened doors provide cooling from the fresh ocean breeze.
Also, other than the condos, none of the rooms have TVs. And you won't find clocks or radios in any room, either.
The Junior Garden Suite offers scenic garden views and your choice of one king-size bed or two queens. Free rollaway beds and crib or infant beds are available upon request. Complimentary turndown service and daily housekeeping will enhance your stay.
Enjoy a fantastic ocean view from the comfort of your lanai by staying in the Ocean Bungalow. The room features either one king-size bed or two queens as well as all the other luxurious amenities that come standard with each unit.
Take your stay up a notch by booking the Oceanfront Bungalow. This oceanside unit features either one king-size bed or two queens. And you'll be so close to the wine storage you'll almost feel the warm water on your feet.
The Oceanfront Suite offers the same oceanside experience as the Oceanfront Bungalow except in a more spacious unit. However, it comes with one king-size bed.
The resort also has one-bedroom/one-bath and two-bedroom/two-bath condos for visitors traveling in a group. The condos are near the three-hole pitch and putt golf course, which makes these units perfect for families.
Each condo also features cable TV, a large dining area, and a gourmet kitchen with appliances and granite countertops. Plus, there is a full refrigerator with wine storage capabilities.
Dining at the resort
The only dining option available is The Preserve Kitchen and Bar, but you won't be disappointed. Located on the resort grounds, the open-air restaurant features breathtaking views of Hana Bay and historic Kauiki Hill.
The restaurant offers a variety of flavorful foods featuring in-season and local ingredients and is open seven days a week. Live Hawaiian music and hula dancing add to the ambiance. Room service is available.

What to Pack
Temperatures in Maui are warm all year so you'll want to bring summer-type clothing and sandals. However, you should also pack a light sweater if it gets chilly at night. Walking shoes are also a good idea if you plan on taking a hike on one of the trails.

There are two different ways to enjoy your experience at the resort. You can choose between the all-inclusive option or the ala carte option.
Both options include unlimited access to a variety of programs and activities plus complete access to all resort facilities. All-inclusive packages include meals.
Guests choosing the all-inclusive package also get a $175 resort credit each night of their stay. This credit can be used towards spa treatments and private classes. Both packages include gratuities in their pricing. There is no minimum length of stay to book the all-inclusive package.
